Yesterday I saw a promotion video for the 2016 Taichung Light Festival. Clips from previous years’ festival especially the laser show at the Opera House looked pretty impressive so I look forward to next month’s event.
In January this year London hosted its largest light festival – Lumiere London. Normally we wouldn’t bother with these events due to over crowding and the bitterly cold winter weather. However once you decide to leave a city, your mentality changes and I’m glad we made the effort.
Thirty installations were displayed across the city and I think we managed to see about half of them. The most impressive ones we saw were around Oxford Circus and Piccadilly. Massive installations floating above the streets and were bought to life with the brilliant changing colours. This area is the heart of London especially on a Saturday night, but the roads were closed off for the festival allowing people to roam freely about.
I’m glad we braved the cold winter night and added another happy memory of London.
